I work with raw and natural fibers. Sketches is a series of experiments manipulating plain materials - silk organza, noil, cotton, cheesecloth, linen, etc. Adopting techniques such as shibori, dye, bleach, embroidery, free-stitching, heat-press, and so on, I explore the possibilities of using tools and machines in a ‘wrong’ way. Sketches is a self-educated method of building something from nothing. The outcome of this series has become a visual guide for me to refer to materials and manipulation techniques.
