THE POND
The Pond is an artist-run space founded by Tan Yubing in 2022.
The space located in a high-tech business district in Chengdu, China. As known as the PASSIONATE POND. The Pond embraces four slogans so far - Artists for Artists./ Behave Badly. / Empower Community./ Share Knowledge.Currently, The Pond is a one year project.

The first show of The Pond was a response to the local high-speed working district. Eight incredible artists and artist groups joined the show - Berger& Berger, Yin Yue, Wang Zichen, Jin Yifan, Hu Liwei, Jason Zhao Bozhi, Crappy Crab and Shu Chutian.
‘SLOW慢’ was about labor, work, time and even boredom. Audiences were asked to record their viewing time during the show. The audience stayed longest ( more than 2 hours) was awarded 168 yuan - the minimum hourly wage x 8 in Chengdu.

‘Not only align left, but also align right 既要左对齐，又要右对齐’ is a series of posters created around artist’s research on fonts, symbols and slogans. The artist collects a wide range of political visual language, including commercial icons, pop music, political propaganda, design history and art history visuals, but uses parody, wordplay and mis-matching to hide opinions and intentions beneath emotionally provocative visuals. - Xia Cheng‘an 10/2022

The artist brought her solo exhibition ‘捕 capture’ to The Pond, presenting videos, video installations, and media works she produced during her residency in Chengdu. On the opening day, a live performance by the artist took place both offline and online. During the show, audiences were invited to scan QR codes via their mobile devices.
